Prior to Covid-19 the CCG had been engaging with local communities in North West Surrey on urgent care services; this work was paused as we focused on our response to the pandemic. We are currently working with NHS England to understand the full impact from the past 18 months on urgent care delivery which will help to inform a new Urgent and Emergency Care strategy. This will help set a framework for developing services that best meet the needs of local communities and respond to the changes we’ve all experienced over the past 18 months. At the same time we are also starting to consider the services that will eventually go back into a new healthcare facility in Weybridge following the devastating fire in 2017.
Our ambition for local people
We want to strengthen the support available for people outside hospital and have a number of aims:
- Making services simple to access so people know where to go for care and support
- Fast and appropriate access to urgent care in line with national best practice
- Fast assessment of people by the right clinician in the right setting
- Making services more joined up so people with different needs can get medical, nursing, therapy, mental health and social care through a single point
- Comprehensive and tailored support for people with the most complex care needs
- Making a wider range of treatments available outside of hospital
- Helping people to get home and return to independence quickly after being in hospital
- Assessing people once so they don't have to repeat their story as they move between organisations
