Reinforcing the national 'Help us, help you' message with the Heart Beetz in Surrey
With all health services remaining busy, today Surrey Heartlands Health and Care Partnership has launched a new campaign to help people know which service to use when, if they need treatment or advice.
At the centre of the campaign, which reinforces the NHS’ national ‘Help us, help you’ message, is a new animation, featuring the Heart Beetz, which tells the story of how the band has been battling with illness and accidents – and how their local NHS has helped.
Inspired by their own experiences the Heart Beetz have released a track about getting help from the right place if you’re unwell or injured.
The animation talks about the role of NHS111 online (www.111.nhs.uk) and the NHS111 phone service (calling 111) and how it can join people up with GP, minor injury and A&E services, depending on where people need to be. It also encourages people to think of their High Street pharmacy when they need advice and over-the-counter medicines and only to use A&E for medical emergencies so Emergency Departments can prioritise helping the most critically ill patients.
Karen McDowell, Chief Operating Officer for Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System and NHS Surrey Heartlands Clinical Commissioning Groups explains:
“Frontline staff across every part of our local system – in hospital, community, GP, mental health, ambulance, NHS111 and social care services - continue to work incredibly hard, providing care and advice – and as we continue to see more patients, services are still very busy.
“We understand sometimes people may be unsure which service to use if they need treatment or advice and through this new campaign, we want to make it even easier for people to know which service to use when, depending on their health needs. Getting the right help first time is much better for our residents and it also helps our frontline teams priotitise people who are critically ill and urgently need help.
“The NHS111 service can play a crucial role in linking people in with the service they need – whether that’s a GP appointment, a minor injuries unit or A&E – so by going online to www.111.nhs.uk or calling 111 people can get directed to the right service for them” Karen added.
The campaign includes radio, social media and outdoor advertising, supported by work with partners, including schools, to raise awareness and share the campaign’s key messages.
